Artist-pianist Educator Piano Teacher
Kay Etheridge
Dr. Kay Etheridge is an artist-pianist, devoted piano instructor, and music educator who
has lived and worked in San Diego since 1982. She was a Professor of Practice at the
University of San Diego throughout most of her career but retired in 2022 to focus
entirely on a career in private teaching. Although she is a popular and highly respected
performer, her most important professional goal has been to teach piano lessons in a
way that really makes a difference in a student’s life. She connects well with her
students, teaches them how to practice and perform confidently with meaning and
expression, and challenges them to discover their musical potential…their personal
best. In her studio, she dedicates her time to encourage, validate, and connect with
each student in a positive way! Her students receive the musical knowledge, pianistic
skills, and performance experience necessary to develop as close to their potential as
circumstances allow.
